Bellus WebDEV

I have been very busy lately with some website development. In particular, the Bellus Media site. Which, what that link leads to is a very poor gray thing. Now, what i have been REALLY working on is this WebDEV. Of course, it is not finished and it is not streamlined for Microsoft Internet Explorer.

So, USE FIREFOX. Or buy an Apple.

Interesting?

So recently i watched this movie called Primer. What is it about you say?

Well, TIME TRAVEL!

I am a sucker for time travel flicks. My favorite trilogy being Back To The Future of course.

Primer was a very odd movie about temporal manipulation (big words). -->

Why was it odd? Well, let me explain it this way.

It was like what it would really be like if you discovered limited time travel (ie, 24 hours either way).

I dont want to give to much of the movie away...

Two friends/inventors are working a way to create and sustain more power from a source than the source puts out. And then... BAM! Time Machine!! So they start screwing around, creating duplicates of themselves (very strange). It was overall a good Sci-fi flick indeed. I recommend it for consumption.

Dr. Smith, Zorg & O.W. Grant

Oh and you cant forget Lee Harvey Oswald!

Do you know what they all have in common?

Answer: Gary Oldman.

He is by far one of my favorite actors. Maybe even the best!

I am watching Lost In Space. Great movie, space, drama, action, time travel... What else do you need?

He played those i mentioned in these movies. Can you match the names to the films?

Interstate 60.

JFK.

The Fifth Element.

Lost In Space.

Midnight Oil

Burning the Midnight Oil. Who said that?

Well, i think it almost every night. My days are filled with normal tasks of everyday life. While my nights on the other hand are late ones. I stay up all night either working on music, web developing (this site is just about done) or any other thing that i happen to need to get done.

Such as:

1. I am still having a problem with MySQL. Here it is -

For some reason no DB users are allowed access to any DB, table, etc... They were working just fine. Well, one user can access the DBs. Root can, but that is not a good idea to have all my stuff accessing the DBs from the root account! I can login from the mysql cli under a console. I can even use a few different GUIs on my iBook and my pc. All users can login this way, but when they try to login from phpBB2 to fetch data, i get "could not connect..." errors! It does this with any web script the uses a MySQL backend. Its wonky...

2. Something secret has been in the works for quite a while... I would say more, but it is a secret...

3. Bus Hop. A lot of recording has been going on with Bus Hop...

4. Relax time. Yes, i sometimes like to sit and do nothing. Watch a movie. No COMPUTERS, no MUSIC!

5. Uh, thats about it.

Fantomas

Since my blog of the past was, well, of the past after the show... I didnt get to comment on it! So, here it comes.

I have to say, it was probably the best show i have ever personally witnessed. Honestly.

The line-up was this:

1. Trevor Dunn's Trio Convulsant.
2. The Locust.
3. Fantômas.

I missed most of Trevor's thing. I was kinda upset about that. I did however see enough to know that they are INCREDIBLE! Seriously, they did their thing and did it well. I should have gotten their CD (though i dont recall seeing it). It was jazz. It was rock. It was strong. It was soft. It seemed to me to be the standard jazz format, but in a way i have never heard before. I could tell that most of it was written material, unlike John Zorn or any other Avant Garde jazz freaks. Only some of the solos seemed to be free formed (the way i like it). What i saw of them was really, really good.

The Locust... Um, well... let us put it this way. I am not linking to any site of theirs or am i going to take the time to even find out if they have any sites. I know that probably sounds brutal, hey it is just my opinion. They played a short set (luckily for me). The music was not all that bad. Heavy stuff, Avant Garde Metal i would call it. Only, the singing... It sounded to me like 3 infants wailing to the sound of electric shavers... Terrible.

F A N T O M A S! Yes, they really did something. It was truly a spectacle! Dave Lombardo (i would put a link, but his site is missing) is one of my favorite drummers. Even though i was never a Slayer fan. I just recognized Dave's ability behind the kit. Trevor of course is also in Fantômas. And he of course plays the instrument known as the bass. And good old Buzz on the guitar. He does his thing like no one else. He is not really my favorite player, but he is one hell of a versatile guitarist. His tone is phenomenal! Big heavy, i mean HUGE sound! He does his thing alright... Then Mike. Mike Patton is probably one of my favorite musicians of all. I know a lot of people, umm, like "worship" him. Seriously... GOOGLE it! It is insane. I think is a fantastic song writer/composer/vocalist, but come on people! As i was saying, Mike did his thing, and as usual his thing was... Unusual... Ha! He was "on" that night in my opinion. Lots of strange sounds, screaming, etc... Plus, we got to hear the new album Suspended Animation before it came out! So most of the stuff they played i had never heard before! Very cool. Of course i bought the album at the show...

They played a few from The Director's Cut. "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me", "The Omen", "Cape Fear", "Experiment In Terror"... The beginning of Delirivm Cordia, A few pages from their first release. And a LOT from Suspended Animation. Very coherently (strange as it may seem).

So, i finally got to see Fantômas. I am happy.

I close with a photo...

Can you see it?

Days of the week

You know, the other night i had an epiphany. Why do all the days in the week have "day" appended to them? We know they are days, right? I mean we dont call months like that, "Hey, its Novembermonth!". Or any other measurement of time for that matter! Seriously, when i tell someone the time i dont say "Its fourhours and thirtytwominutes o'clock"...

Stop the madness!

Lets do this:

1. Take the *day* off of the days of the week.

Mon Tues Wednes Thurs Fri Sat Sun... Now here is the brilliant part.

2. New designation for time of "day".

If someone asks you "What are you doing SaturDAY?". You would reply with what you are doing during the DAYtime! Only, you reply "Though i am not free SaturNIGHT. I have plans."

3. Lets quit calling them days too.

Cycles. Day/Night. There is just as much day as there is night. STOP THE MADNESS! it is an insult to the collective intelligence of the planet EARTH!

Besides, it is an oxymoron to say "I am free SaturDAYNIGHT." I mean come on people!! Day Night?! Is that dumb?

So, how can you help?

Simple, change you lifestyle to reflect that which i discuss here. and/or send me as much money as you can come with...

P.S. I hope everyone has a nice Fricycle.
